February is the secret season in Plettenberg Bay, with consistently sunny weather and a break from the wind. Another plus is that there are great deals to be found.
Holiday at Kurland Estate, where room rates dive by more than half in low season, starting from R2065 per person sharing, including breakfast and a high tea every day.
This luxurious hotel is just 20km from town – close enough to all the attractions of Plett, and far away enough for you to immerse yourself in country activities, such as polo.
Kurland started as a woodcutter’s cottage 200 years ago and has morphed into a grand country mansion. Its 12 individually designed suites are luxurious and modern, with decadently large bathrooms, a lounge area and private courtyards. Many have lofts where the kids can sleep.
The house is full of delightful nooks and crannies, and you can expect a well-stocked library, log fires, scrumptious meals, rolling lawns and a rose garden to explore, as well as the on-site Sweet Pea Spa.
For the kids, there are expansive grounds, a tennis court, playroom, jungle gym and separate pool and menus. There are also quad bikes and mountain bikes, and free
Shetland pony rides. Horse riding excursions can be arranged. Visit: kurland.co.za
