Muse Hotel De Lux
St Tropez
France
December 8, 2010 Cape Town – Other little hotshot hotels may have opened this year here in the South of France but it’s this new hot spot, a creamy, contemporary cocoon with only 15 rooms, that’s the name on everyone’s lips. Muse is a blissful bubble that’s appeared in the suede-bikini stupendousness of St Tropez and instantly fits in. Backed by the people behind the lush Pangkor Laut in Malaysia and owned by a lady who used to work at Nikki Beach, it has cool marble floors and rain showers that cascade from high ceilings, tinkling bicycles and gentle rocking chairs. Spend evenings at the humming terrace restaurant where tablecloths get ironed into position and rich truffle recipes are borrowed from the famous French truffle-king Bruno (not something that Bruno simply hands out willy-nilly) Finish the night with Krug at Les Caves and get a lift back in the hotel Bentley before tucking into the chocolate brownies by your bed. Normally, in places this small, staff are as rare as the dodo. Not here Towels get whipped away, cold rose is endlessly offered up poolside and everyone is hugely friendly. Delightful.
