Azura at Quilalea: Paradise for lovers… of Marine life- Air Namibia Inflight Magazine

Azura at Quilalea is a hidden gem, a private, wholly uninhabited island paradise surrounded by the pristine waters of a marine sanctuary. The island has statuesque age old island baobab groves and stunning flora and fauna, with turtles nestling each year on one of the beaches.

Azura at Quilalea is an Eco-Boutique Retreat and consists of only nine seafront villas accommodating 18 guests. The villas are built from natural coral stone and makuti thatch, and have all been revamped to increase comfort with natural finishing, indoor/outdoor showers, private deck stretching out to the beach, daybeds and sun-loungers for relaxing beneath the giant baobabs on the island.

This is paradise for lovers of marine life and offers snorkelling on the islands shores and scuba diving straight off the beach in front of your villa. Kayaking the mangroves, deep sea fishing, Island walks to view giant baobabs, cultural trips to nearby Ibo Island, relaxing treatments at the African Spa, exclusive picnics and candlelit beach dinners can be organised. There are some amazing dive sites in the surrounding waters, with walls and drop offs for the more adventurous.

Cuisine at Quilalea is focused around the natura produce available locally, in line with the island’s ‘Eco Ethos’. A great deal of fresh fish and seafood dominate the menu, with dining a relaxed and laid back affair. Guests receive Azura’s trademark Mozambican Butler/Host service, where try to make the dining experiences different through a range of unique and special venues and set-ups.
